I have been super into journaling recently because I have 1 million things always spinning in my head and that can get really overwhelming at most times. The reason why I gravitate to journaling is because I can be raw, open and honest with myself, and I can freely express myself in a non-judgmental way. It also gives me so much mental clarity and I love gaining a new perspective once I write down all of my thoughts, and really get into the real issue and not just a surface level feeling.

My journaling tips:
1. have a special book/notebook that inspires you to write in
Beautiful notebooks inspire you to get creative and write in- and that’s what you want: the inspiration to journal. There are so many options when it comes to choosing a book for your journal so you’ll sure to find one you love. The one I’m currently obsessed with is this custom journal from @itsprettyproductive
2. use a pen that you love to write with
When it comes to writing, I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with pens! I think it’s all about the pens- the way they write and feel. I’m a black ink- specifically inky- kinda gal. The pens I always go for are the Pilot Frixion, Pilot Supergel 07 and the BIC Grip Roller.
3. have a special place to write
Whenever you feel inspired to write, you’ll always want somewhere that you’re comfortable in. Maybe on your bed, at your desk, a coffee shop- anywhere that really makes you feel at peace and motivates you to write.
4. never feel pressured
Don’t ever make journaling a chore. Do it because you WANT to do it or feel forced. If you start making journaling feel forced, then you’re just going to not want to do it. Even if you don’t journal for weeks at a time, journal when YOU feel inspired or you feel the need to clear your mind aka get some metal clarity.
5. raw, open and honest
Your journal is your safe space. It’s totally non-judgemental so there’s no need to lie to yourself. If you really want to genuinely feel better, then you need to be as honest as you can with yourself. You’ll never solve any problems by sugar-coating things. Use journaling as a technique to find out what’s REALLY going on in your soul.
6. use journal prompts
If you really aren’t sure exactly where to start journaling, journaling prompts can be the perfect nudge that you need. I know you’re probably like “I don’t have anything to write about”. But trust me, when you start just writing and letting everything flow, you might end up with a solid 3-5 pages. Here’s a compilation of 20 prompts that can inspire you to start journaling.
Feel free to right click and save to your computer. Then you can print and add it into your journal so whenever you feel inspired to write, you have a list of prompts to get you started!
Happy writing,
