Some people tend to have a fear of being alone and it’s more common than you think. People can associate being alone as a negative thing and some think that they will be judged negatively for being alone. It’s quite common that people are ashamed of being alone can since it can appear to be a sign of having no friends, or no life. But tbh, the people who say those negative things actually tend to be the ones who are most afraid of being alone and having alone time. Being/wanting to be alone is not at all the same thing as being lonely.
I love love love having alone time. It’s the part of the day that I look forward too the most. It’s MY time and I could get super protective over it. Taking a step back from the world and the people in it can actually be very exciting and prove to be a very valuable thing that you can do for yourself.
Having alone time and just being alone can be very daunting and frightening for some people but you have to have the confidence to know that you are capable of taking this time to be by yourself. Who knows- maybe by taking the plunge and having alone time, you can become more confident in real life. You never know!
There are many reasons why I love and crave this time & here’s why. Maybe it can even help you if this is something that you’re not sure about.
1. Focus on things that I want
There are so many things that I want to do and sometimes, being always around people 24/7 means that those things get pushed back. Between family obligations, work, school, your social life and all the rest of things you have going, how are you ever supposed to get to do what YOU want? This is where my personal time comes in. I can finally start my scrapbooking, make videos for my personal channel, make printables for y’all, read the book I’m always neglecting, focus on my herb garden (so far so good btw) of course this blog.
2. Remember why I’m doing what I’m doing
Do you have goals and dreams? Do you think that you’re not getting anywhere? Maybe that’s because you didn’t take the time to properly sit and think about these things. I like my personal time because I can re-visit what I want in life. I like to also remember why I want these things and think about ways that I can get them done. Stopping to do this every once in a while can make you realize that hey, maybe something isn’t really working out the way you want it too and you have to come up with different solutions; or maybe you just don’t want it again.
3. Beauty & Me time
There are weeks that fly past where I don’t even put on a facemask or wash my hair (GULP so gross I know but I blame it on the gym). Other times I barely sleep a wink or I don’t eat properly (like what even is food). Being hot headed in the daily grind of life can mean that you often neglect yourself and your needs. Clearly I am guilty of that and need to work on it as well! When you find yourself alone, why not have a mini spa moment. Do over your nails, make a DIY face mask, make a yummy smoothie, exercise for 20 minutes…basically do something FOR you that will remind you that you’re beautiful, amazing and confident. Treat yo’self babe cause you deserve it.
4. Go on an adventure
You can use this as a time to explore. I love the idea of just picking myself up and going somewhere. The world is such a big place and there’s just so much to do & find out about. Traveling by yourself also allows you the luxury of learning to become independent. It also allows you to learn things about yourself. Once I was in NYC and I walked all the way to a cute little farm. I ended up meeting Angelica, a girl who also came to the farm alone and without any clue on what to do. I sucked up my fear and went up to her and started a random conversation. I ended up with cute pictures in a pumpkin patch, apple picking & feeding the animals. So fucking random I know but it only happened because I ventured out alone and I wasn’t afraid of it. Sure, you’re not always gonna meet someone and end up having a stellar adventure, but the point is- you never know so why not just take the leap?!
5. Learn something new
Was there any thing that you really really wanted to try/learn? Recently I’ve been crazy about lettering- you know the fancy writing with watercolors? I can see that becoming so useful for my blog or even my planner! Maybe you’d like to learn making fancy cake decorations, crocheting, another language??? This is a perfect time to start. Do something for you and something that you love every once in a while ya know?!
