Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to gather your girls for a day of laughter, bonding, and of course, delicious food. This year, I went all out and created a DIY waffle bar that everyone loved. If you’re looking for a fun and creative way to celebrate, here’s everything you need to know about setting up your own waffle bar, complete with tips and ideas to make it truly special.

Set the Scene
Creating the right atmosphere is key to making your Galentine’s Day celebration memorable. For my waffle bar, I focused on a cozy and chic vibe with pops of pink and red. I printed out a simple XOXO pattern on paper and taped it together to make a runner. I also had a string of pink hearts from ages ago and that I laid out as well. You can definitely look around your home and use items you already have. However just in case you have the time and budget, here are some other options!
- Decorations: Use a pink or red tablecloth as your base and add heart-shaped garlands or balloons for a festive touch. Fairy lights or candles can also add a warm and inviting glow. For my candlesticks, I even tied a bow with red ribbon I had leftover from another project.
- Serveware: Opt for cute and colorful plates, bowls, and napkins that fit the theme. If you can find heart-shaped or waffle-themed items- those would be perfect. I have these pink heart shaped ramekins from Paris Hilton that I am obsessed with!
- Signage: Create a little sign that says “Waffle Bar” for an extra little touch.
Step 2: The Waffles
The star of the show, of course, is the waffles! I kept it simple by using pancake mix (just add water), but you can also make them from scratch if you prefer. I used my heart shaped waffle maker which made it sooo easy to make the waffles. Be sure to take note of any dietary restrictions like gluten free etc. I made the waffles when everyone arrived so they were more or less warm, but you can always preheat them in the oven at a low temperature to keep them warm.
PS: I also used pink food colouring for mine which made the batter turn out to be the prettiest pink shade. But I noticed that the waffles themselves on the outside didn’t turn out pink, but once you bit into it, you saw that pretty pink colour!
Step 3: Toppings Galore
A waffle bar is all about customization, so go all out with the toppings. Here are some must-haves:
- Sweet Toppings: Fresh fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and bananas; whipped cream; syrups (maple, chocolate, caramel); sprinkles; chocolate chips; and powdered sugar.
- Special Touches: Set out small bowls of fun extras like crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or even edible glitter for that extra sparkle.
- Savoury Toppings: Scrambled eggs, avocado slices, shredded cheese, and smoked salmon.
Step 4: Beverages
Pair your waffle bar with some fun drinks to complete the experience. For my Galentine’s Day celebration, I did pink juice frozen in my rose ice moulds, and topped it with non-alcoholic sparkling wine.
Here are some other options:
- Hot Drinks: Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, cinnamon sticks, and flavoured syrups.
- Cold Drinks: A mimosa station with champagne and fresh fruit juices, or a non-alcoholic punch for those who prefer it.
Step 5: Add Personal Touches
To make your waffle bar extra special, consider these ideas:
- Customized Menus: Create little cards with topping ideas to inspire your guests.
- Takeaway Treats: Provide cute takeaway boxes so your friends can pack up any leftovers.
- Photo Ops: Set up a small photo area with themed props to capture memories of your celebration.
Extra Little Tips
- Prep Ahead: Make your waffles and chop your toppings the night before to minimize stress on the day of the event.
- Label Everything: Use small signs to label toppings so everyone knows what’s available.
- Keep It Simple: Don’t feel like you need to provide every topping under the sun. A mix of sweet and savoury options will do the trick.
Hosting a Galentine’s Day waffle bar is such a fun way to show your friends some love, make memories and indulge in a delicious treat. I hope this inspires you to host your own waffle bar and make this Galentine’s Day one to remember. Be sure to message me if you try this!
