Beautiful readers!
Here is the second #MakeitinMay blog post and video. These gorgeous mini dreamcatchers are so pretty to put in your room or to even give as gifts. I really love them and the next time I have a girly sleepover, we’ll definitely be making these.
Ever since I was a child I wanted to have a dreamcatcher because I was always so intrigued by the story behind them. It’s a Native American tradition where dreamcatchers-made of bone and other personal artefacts- were hung over the bed to trap the bad dreams in the net and allow the good ones to slide down to the feathers to the dreamer. Doesn’t it sound so magical?
For this project you will need:
– bracelets
– embroidery thread
– Beads [make sure they have big enough holes so that the thread can pass through!]
– Feathers*
– Glue gun
– Scissors
* The feathers I used for my mini dreamcatchers were part of the feather hair clips that were very much in style a few years back. I know I know, I was going through a mini phase.
I just took a pliers and unhooked them from the chain links and used those in my dreamcatchers. If you don’t have these then don’t pull your hair out because any feathers would do. All you will need to do is just hot glue/ knot your feathers to the thread.
A hint which I mention in the video is to string all your beads at once so you wont have to keep stopping the netting process in order to string those teeny tiny beads.
These are so easy to make you can finish them in about 15 minutes tops! Best part about it is that you can personalize it any way that you would like from choosing the bracelet to be your ‘hoop’ and then adding pretty coloured beads- or ever clear ones- to your mini dreamcatchers!
Let me know what you thought about this DIY! I would love to hear your thoughts on #MakeitinMay and don’t forget, if you do make anything, be sure to use the #MakeitinMay so that I can find you-I really would love to use your pics on my blog! You can tweet me or instagram me it if you’d like!
Love you tons and stayed tuned for the next #MakeitinMay video/post!
XO, The Classy It Girl!
