I have serious commitment issues with perfume- ain’t gonna lie. I never really know what I like and I could never stick to ONE perfume that I’m head over heels in love with, so I often end up with a ton of little sample sized bottles. Confession: my guy is responsible for most of the perfumes I have and I can’t lie- he as really good taste. Or smell?
But still, there are times when you want to find a scent that you actually like and want for yourself…but you just don’t know where the heck to start right? Say no more. Read on to see my secret for finding scents I love.
Or just watch the video. That’ll work too.
I recently found out about Scentbird which is a perfume subscription where for about $15 a month, you get a 30-day supply of a designer fragrance in a sleek black tube. The site is really interactive so you have to fill out a fun survey and answer the questions and this will be used to generate a list of perfumes that you should like.
From the fab list of perfumes I got, I chose Miss Dior, and let me just say, the scent is absolutely magical. It has patchouli, rose, jasmine and musk and there’s an elegance and playfulness about it. But make no mistake- the sexiness is there. Think Parisienne chic: subtly but undeniably sexy- which would of course make sense because hello?! Dior?
Meowwww.
Fun fact: it belongs to a class of perfumes called chypre (pronounced sheep-rah in your sexiest French accent please) which basically means that the fragrance develops from floral –> patchouli –> musk. And I love musk btw so you’ll find it in a lot of the perfumes I share.
P.S. Scentbird was kind enough to give my viewers a coupon code to get 25% off their first perfume with the code CLASS25 so definitely take advantage of it if you have perfume commitment issues like myself and never know what you like or where to start.
CLASS25
My ultimate fave perfume in the world is Very Sexy from Victoria’s Secret. It’s such a unique scent thanks to the rare ingredients like cappuccino, pepper and cactus flowers. It has that floral but musky scent and it SCREAMS sexy. Hence the name I would think. I’ve used and abused this for date night because I mean come onnnnnn.
Woman by Tommy Hilfiger is the one I pull when I feel preppy. Think white chiffon shirt and pearls: simple but incredibly elegant. Coach Poppy Blossom is another one I adore because of the fruity and floral scents that make it flirty yet subtle enough for everyday wear.
A new scent my guy just gave me is Dahlia Noir from Givenchy. I loveeee this because firstly, the name translates into “fatal flower” and gives reference to a flower that doesn’t exist. That sense of danger and mystery is absolutely intriguing. It has pink pepper, rose, vanilla and sandalwood and it’s a sexy and sophisticated scent. Definitely date night appropriate.
