Liquid lipsticks are all that I’m using right now- especially the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits. But, I came across a new collection from The Body Shop which are these Matte Lip Liquids. And you know me, I just had to swatch them on my tan/olive skin tone in case you wanted to see how it looks. And also because my #snapchatsquad wanted to see them.

I love The Body Shop and couldn’t be more excited when they came out with these new liquid lippies. They smell sooooo good- like candy (YUM). They are also super creamy and for me, the best part is that they dry matte. Anddd, if you know me, I’m a sucker for all things matte.
If you’re a matte lip lover, then you know that one of the hardest compromise is finding a lipstick that dries perfectly matte without drying out your lips. These lipsticks are definitely anything from drying- the finish is more velvet matte and I can’t say I don’t love that.
Want to know the best part? The Body Shop is actually doing something positive for the environment- you might have guessed it with the names of cities & flowers?!
How you may ask? Well for every lipstick sold, The Body Shop will help to restore the rainforest through its Bio-Bridges campaign. This campaign aims to restore 75 million square meters of rainforest across the world by 2020. And btw, each liquid lipstick costs only $10!! Isn’t that just amazing? I dunno about you but shopping for a good cause is something that I’m all about. It’s a great way to give back if you just don’t have the time to physically go out and volunteer or something like that. Ya feel me?
P.S. did I mention that these are 100% vegetarian & cruelty free?
There are 12 shades- I only swatched 6 of them, but I loved the formula and they are pretty much long lasting. The only thing for me is that I wish that they were more pigmented. I found that I had to apply 2-3 coats of the product before I got the colour/opacity that I wanted. And the darker colours like Mauritius Dahlia had a patchiness to it- so I did have to keep applying more.
Also, I can’t do this review without mentioning the obvious- these lippies are very similar to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, in terms of packaging, colours, consistency & even names of cities. You can read more about the NYX lippies here.
Here’s the video if you prefer talking/visual swatches. Nairobi Camellia was definitely my fave & I felt like overall, all the ones I tried, complimented my skin tone. Normally I’m wary about lighter colours (like nudes) that may wash out my skin tone.
Surprisingly, I ended up liking Mauritius Dahlia, even though it’s definitely not a colour I would go for. You know me and my nudes!! But hey, maybe now is a great time to explore darker colours- especially during this time of year.
