Let’s be real- everyone is always on the lookout on how to save a few $$$. If you’re not one of them, then good for you- but for all the rest of my girls on a budget, I got you. Here are 10 beauty hacks that would definitely help you save a few bucks. They are all super easy and inexpensive and you could practically find ALL the items in your home right.this.minute.
Don’t believe me? Check out the video below!
Had a long night of beating the books or relationship drama and now you have the puffiest eyes in life? Don’t worry, been there done that. Steep two green tea teabags in hot water then take them out and pop them into the fridge for about 5 mins. Apply to your eyes for 1-2 minutes and you’ll feel this cool, tingly feeling as the antioxidants from the green tea helps to reduce the fluids from around your eyes. You can also do this when you’re having one of those spa moments at home because it feels soooo good.
- 2. Whiten Teeth
If caffeine is something that’s probably part of your DNA by now, then you know the struggle of stained teeth. Brighten them up and remove those surface stains by using baking soda and toothpaste! Instead of making a paste which I find so tedious, I like putting toothpaste on my toothbrush and then sprinkling the baking soda on top of it. Do this everyday for whiter, brighter teeth.
- 3. Declump your mascara
Ughhhh so if you’re a fellow mascara addict, you know the struggle of goopy mascara. To fix this pesky problem just put the mascara tube into a glass of warm water. This helps to get the mascara back to its buttery state.
P.S. if your mascara is old, THROW IT THE EFF OUT. You do NOT need an eye infection.
- 4. DIY Hair Mist
Instead of buying pricey hair mists (Sephora you know what’s up), just spray your hairbrush with your fave perfume and then pass it through your hair. The hairbrush perfectly diffuses the scent throughout your hair, leaving you with the feeling like you just waltzed out of a Herbal Essence commercial. I think the body mists from Victoria’s Secret are PERFECT because they’re relatively inexpensive and have so many yummy fruity scents.
- 5. Plumper Pout
Apply lipstick as usual and then dab a shimmery powder or highlighter onto the centre of your lips. This reflects light and draws attention to your lips, giving the illusion of fuller lips. I like using this Too Faced highlighter.
- 6. Lipstick Cream Blush
If you run out of blush or you’re just lazy like me, just dab some lipstick (one with some moisture obv) onto your cheeks and blend it in. It’s like your own cream blush. TIP: dab the lipstick onto your finger first then onto your cheeks for a more controlled application. I like using Girl About Town from M.A.C. for this.
- 7. Soft Eye Pencils
Don’t you just hate it when one of your eye pencils is giving you hell to sharpen? Just toss it into the freezer for a few minutes to “harden” it up. This makes it so much easier to sharpen.
8. Cracked Heels
UGH this is the story of my life. Quick story-my boyfriend tickled my heels and I squirmed, leading him to say, “You felt that? I’m surprised it has any feeling”. EMBARRASSING AF. You don’t need a fancy cream for this problem. Just grab some vaseline and rub into your heels. Put on some socks and just go to bed. If you do this every night, you’ll wake up with gloriously soft heels. Hell yes, I’m doing that.
- 9. Longer Lashes
Use baby powder or any translucent powder and swipe onto your lashes with a small brush or q-tip. Then apply mascara as usual. The powder helps your mascara to grip firmly and coat every inch of your lashes.
- 10. De-frizz hair
Frizzy hair is another HUGE problem of mine thanks to the humidity. If you don’t have any anti-frizz serums on hand, just grab a good old dryer sheet and pass it through your hair. This gets rid of any static frizzy hair in no time AND it has the bonus of smelling soooooooo good.
