Nothing is more lovely-vintage as a brown paper parcel. When it come to holiday gift wrap, I can’t help but go this way. It’s so different from pricey store bought wrapping paper and it stands out beautifully under the tree. When people think of brown paper, it’s often associated with paper bags and all things that aren’t beautiful. But, if you add a few embellishments here and there, brown paper gift wrap can be as stunning as another store bought one.
I loved this idea so much that I wrapped my gifts this year with brown paper #SORRYNOTSORRY
P.S. you need to be following me on my social – instagram, twitter & snapchat (itsroxyjames) because there are mega giveaways that are going on and you definitely don’t want to be missing out. Like this one.
For this gift wrap, I used holly themed paper doilies from my local grocery that were super inexpensive. I liked the idea of having them spread across the gift, but if you prefer using a single one in the middle, by all means go ahead.
To give it even more of a vintage parcel vibe, I wrapped the traditional red and white baker’s twine around it and finished it with a DIY snow-capped pinecone. Everything for this DIY is in this video.
You can even play around with the topping of your gift by adding fresh greenery like rosemary (mine died) or fern (someone accidentally weeded it out). Or good old cinnamon if you want something long lasting and yummy smelling.
Another fun style is use baker’s twine alone to create a pattern on your gift. For a more masculine touch, I used black and white baker’s twine.
Remember, you can add as many embellishments as you want. Here are some ideas to jazz up your brown paper gift wrap:
- fresh/fake herbs (greenery): fern, rosemary, eucalyptus
- cinnamon sticks
- pinecones
- ornaments
- use markers (white, silver, gold) to create patterns like circles on the paper
- write all over the brown paper
What do you think about this idea- would you ever try it?
