When I was growing up, my mom taught me a skin beauty hack that helped my skin stay soft and smooth. Today, I’m gonna share that little secret & a DIY that’s fun and easy- trust me, your skin will thank you. The best part? You just need two ingredients for this after shower lotion bar and obv thanks to the title, coconut oil is one of them!
P.S. I have a mini instagram video here that has the basic rundown of this DIY

So whats the secret?!
After every nightly shower, apply oil to your damp skin and then pat yourself dry with your towel.
Ikr, it sounds basic AF but trust me, the result is far from that. My guy always tells me how smooth my skin is and it’s thanks to this.
The reason I love coconut oil is because it has so many properties other than just simply moisturizing.
- high in saturated fats (fatty acids & triglycerides) that retain moisture in the skin.
- capric/lauric acid are fatty acids that have antimicrobial/disinfectant properties so if you have any open wounds, the coconut oil protects against any microbes that want to enter
- has Vitamin E for skin growth, repair and of course, to keep skin smooth and crack-free
- rich in proteins which nourish and keep skin healthy .
This is ideal for the night because the oil does its magic when you’re sleeping and that way, you wake up with amazingly soft, supple skin. Think of it like an overnight beauty treatment.

The oils are just for a yummy scent and I really can’t complain because the rose oil I added was life.
When you get out of the shower at night, just grab a bar and warm it up in your hands. Your body heat will start melting the bar. On your damp skin, just rub it all over your body and then pat dry with your towel.
P.S. any extra oil in your hand can be used at the ends of your hair. IKR coconut oil is amazing especially for dry hair and it can actually help “heal” your ends and tame those spilt ends #TRUESTORY
