Another day and another DIY. That’s just life sometimes right? I love Kate Spade and I love their decor pieces but for the everyday gal, it can be a little pricey. I’ll show you how to make two inspired pieces from the brand and then these cute prints that I designed for a free download for you!
P.S. Watch the video to learn to make your own prints!
P.S.S. If you make any DIYs from this series be sure to tweet me or instagram me with the #MAKEITINMAY so I can see what you were up too!
First up is this gorgeous ‘odds and ends tray” inspired by the Kate Spade version of the Daisy Place Medium Square Dish which retails at $40.
I used gold paint to paint the edges of my dish because I love the way it looks as if gold is oozing down. If you’re a stickler when it comes to these things, don’t hesitate to use tape to make clean edges or you can use a gold Sharpie for more precision.
Don’t beat yourself up either for the writing. No one expects you to write exactly the same was as K.S. Keep in mind that it’s an inspired DIY so adding your personal touches are what this is all about.
Naturally I had to toss in some Kate Spade yummies for this DIY. BTW these small square stud earrings are TDF [to die for]. Bracelet is ‘Take a Bow” but a similar one is here.
You need:
- square dish (this one is perfect because it’s glazed and porcelain)
- acrylic gold paint or gold Sharpie marker
- black Sharpie
- sealant spray
Next up are these Happy Hour Coasters that retail for $35. I used much finer specks of glitter but if you really want to go exactly for the K.S. look, I definitely recommend larger bits of glitter.
I loved the way these turned out and not only do they look fab, but they protect my desk from hot/hold liquids.

BTW, there are these K.S. glitter coasters that you make if you prefer the multicoloured vibe!
Okay last up is there are these K.S inspired prints. These aren’t from the K.S. store but while browsing, I saw similar ones that were being sold online so I decided to make them myself- and give it to you as a free download! Don’t forget if wanna make your own I show you how to in the video!
Note: these prints were made to fit an 8.5 x 11 ” frame which is the same size of a computer page. If you want smaller prints, you can try to scale the image. I find either 25%, 50% or 75% works best.
Also, I spray painted my frames white because it makes the colours pop more.
You will need:
- document frames: a set of 5 here or single here
Hope you enjoyed this DIY and have fun making these K.S. inspired decor! Lemme know what you think.
