With 2017 almost upon us, I’m sure you’re feeling what I’m feeling: excitement of the possibilities to come, fear of the unknown, and the magical feeling that you can do anything. There’s also the overwhelming need to write down your New Year’s resolutions- most of which you’ll forget about in the first two weeks of the new year #LETSBEREAL
This year, I wanted to change that. I wanted to do something different. I decided to create a list of things that would remind me of things that I should do and things that I shouldn’t. The words “do” and “don’t” are powerful- like a command or something. Do this not that.
P.S. are you following me on instagram, twitter & snapchat (itsroxyjames). You totally should so you won’t miss out on anything!
I created this list based on aspects of my life that I personally need to change (the dont’s section), as well as positive things that I would always like to remember (the do’s section). For me, these are things that I think would help me live a better life on a day-to-day, moment-to-moment basis. They are pretty simple but they are changes that aren’t impossible to make. In fact, I consider them really liveable.
BTW, I am by no way claiming to be a sudden motivational/self-help guru, but my blog is also a lifestyle blog (it’s right in the header if you don’t believe me) and I do have a lot of interest in living the best life I could. Naturally (since this is a blog and all) I love sharing these things with you in case you find it helpful in your life as well.
These are short affirmations that you should always have in a place that you look at all the time. Obviously you won’t remember or be a able to practice a thing if you have it hidden under piles of unknowns during the year. You can print it out and frame it, stick it near your mirror- anything like that. For me, I printed it out and put it into my daily planner which I look at every single day. #PLANNERADDICT
Now I’m not saying by any means to skip out on writing your usual million and one resolutions- you know the ones: go to the gym, eat healthy, be organized etc. cause I’m still doing that. But I just wanted this list to be a daily reminder of changes you can consciously make in your life.
P.S. a goal of mine is to have a herb garden and a real kitchen garden. But that’s an entirely different post.
NOTES:
Scale the PDF to 150% or 200% before you print, to get larger sizes (like what you see above). The smaller one I actually used in my planer is the original printing size, while the larger one is scaled to 150%.
